Company History
Twenty-one years ago, Scott Hinson (Owner and president) was
intrigued by a product in an Amway catalog that saved money by
extending the life of standard light bulbs. He researched other energy
saving methods and pioneered a business going to local companies
selling state of the art efficient lighting technologies. His first
customer was Union Carbide in Danbury, CT. When utility conservation
programs began in the early eighties, Scott was one of the first
contractors to help business customers reduce energy by utilizing
these incentive/rebate programs. As these programs grew, New England
Energy Management, Inc worked closely with utility companies to secure
the maximum incentives for our customers. Since then, NEEM has
leveraged technology advancements to expand our line of products and
our expertise in lighting upgrades and energy efficient solutions.
Scott is a founding member the Connecticut Chapter of NEEC
(Northeast Efficiency Council). In 2003 a grassroots effort through
NEEC helped avert a proposed Legislative raid on the ratepayer funded
Conservation & Load Management Fund in Connecticut. Several owners of
energy-related companies throughout the country got their start and
learned the business from Scott.
