If included in the mortgage, solar will
increase your payment by the average of $19.00 per month while
reducing your utility bill by $25 to $45 per month; thus, giving
the homeowner a positive cash flow from day one.
Example:
Adding a Solar Energy System to mortgage: $19.00/month
Potential Power Bill Savings: $45.00/month
-----------------
Positive Cash Flow/month: $26.00
But that's not the only benefit!
Installing a Solar Water Heater can also help you qualify for an
Energy Efficient Mortgage (EEM). The advantages of an EEM
include a reduced down payment, lower closing cost or an
increased debt-to-income ratio. This debt-to-income ratio
stretch means you qualify for a larger mortgage. So, when you're
deciding what to include in your new home, remember that solar
is the only household appliance that pays for itself over and
over again. Other water heating systems, like electric and gas
require never-ending monthly utility payments. The sun's energy
is FREE. |
Rebates:
Connecticut Clean Energy Fund now offers rebates for
Connecticut residents who install solar photovoltaic
systems on their homes. The incentives are available
only through participating installers that have been
designated by CCEF. Systems may be of any size
but must be connected to the electric grid. The program
offers an incentive of $5 per Watt (PTC rating)
for the first 5kW of system and installation
costs, with a maximum rebate of
$25,000 per
household. Homes can be one to four family
residences.

Building
America is a private/public partnership that develops energy
solutions for new and existing homes. The Building America
project combines the knowledge and resources of industry leaders with
the U.S. Department of Energy's technical capabilities.
Together, they
act as a catalyst for change in the home-building industry.

Solar Applications
CCEF has
selected a group of professional solar PV installers. These companies
provide consumers with information and details of installing a
residential solar PV system. The installers apply for the incentive on
behalf of state residents and reduce the cost of the solar PV system by
the amount of the rebate. They are responsible for all the paperwork
necessary to obtain the incentive from the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund
on behalf of state residents. To begin the process of applying for a
rebate, contact some of the eligible installers listed in the attachment
below.

Geothermal
Heat Pumps
Many homeowners
have found geothermal energy as a great source in heating and
cooling their home. These homeowners power their
geothermal system with Trane's ground-source heat pumps. They know that Trane offers high efficiency
equipment, ranging from 13 to 22.8 EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio) and from 2.7 to 3.9 COP
(co-efficiency of performance) to provide some of the
greatest energy savings and home comfort
found in geothermal design.
